Medvedev: ,,New Ukrainian regions could become part of Russia’’

The Vice-President of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, congratulated the Russian people on September 30 this year on the occasion of the Day of the Reunification of the New Regions with Russia on his Telegram page.

According to him, a year ago, during the referendums, the residents of the Ukrainian regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye decided to ,,join their true homeland’’. Medvedev claims that this election has become a symbol of the ,,unity, will and dedication of the Russian nation’’. In addition, the official also spoke about the completion of the ,,special military operation’’.

,,We will fight until the Nazi regime in Kiev is completely defeated and the original Russian territories are liberated from the enemy’’.

At the end of March of this year, Medvedev did not rule out that the ,,special operation’’ would extend to Kiev and Lvov, implying that new regions could soon become part of Russia.

At the same time, in a conversation with a journalist from The New York Times in August of this year, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, claimed that Russia is not trying to gain more Ukrainian territories.

,,We only want to control those territories that are now written in our Constitution as ours’’, Peskov said.

In July of this year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared at a press conference that Ukraine would be ready for a diplomatic solution to the conflict if its troops reached the internationally recognized borders in 1991, which included the four regions annexed by Russia last year and the Crimean peninsula.

,,I emphasize again: Ukraine will be ready for negotiations when we are again at our real borders established in accordance with international law’’, Zelenskiy said.

We remind that the leader in Kiev refuses to negotiate with Russia while President Vladimir Putin is in charge.
