Ukraine's foreign minister describes EU protection as herd instinct

,,Ukraine’s allied countries protect it out of herd instinct’’. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitri Kuleba said this at a meeting with EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell on November 28, comparing European states to a herd of elephants.

Journalists asked Kuleba and Borrell about their attitude to the general fatigue of EU member states since the conflict in Ukraine, comparing the situation to the ,,elephant in the room’’ that everyone notices but no one talks about. .

,,This idiom does not apply to the present case. Elephants are wise, energetic, compassionate animals and always protect each other. We are ,,a member of the herd’’, so European partners will support Ukraine as long as they invest in their own security’’, Kuleba explained.

At the same time, the Ukrainian foreign minister stated that he does not feel any pressure from the West regarding the start of negotiations with Russia.

Earlier, Irina Mudra, Ukraine’s deputy justice minister, said Kiev would not sign a peace deal with Moscow without receiving compensation.

,,Ukraine will never agree to this. And the world won't agree either, because someone has to pay these reparations. If not Russia, then who?, she specified.

Although the EU has many objectives on the agenda to work on (preparation for next year's European Parliament elections, solving the refugee crisis, implementing new policies for the transition to green energy, etc.), this does not mean that Ukraine will become a neglected topic . Ukrainian soldiers are still fighting for both their country and the safety of the European Union. The Russian threat is still on the rise, and moving away from supporting the Kiev regime would be just about the best advantage Moscow could get to dismantle Ukraine once and for all and take the most important step in restoring the Russian empire.
