The British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs is raising his political profile

In Great Britain, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs David Cameron is successfully competing with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, replacing him in terms of political reputation. This was reported by Politico.

,,The British foreign secretary is known across government as the 'foreign prime minister' because he often puts his boss’s reputation on the line, while Sunak struggles with endless political crises on the domestic front’’, the paper claims.

According to the material, thanks to his experience on the world stage and calm demeanor, the foreign secretary began to eclipse Sunak. As an example, Politico cited a recent case in which a British MP accidentally addressed Cameron as Prime Minister.

One of the anonymous employees of the British Foreign Ministry said in an interview given to the publication that Cameron ,,is trying to get real results and tangible progress’’.

On April 9th this year, Cameron met with Donald Trump at the former US president's Mar-a-Lago club where they discussed NATO's defense spending, the upcoming elections in Great Britain and the United States, Brexit and the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine .

Earlier, Cameron had previously urged the US Congress to provide additional aid to Kyiv, calling America the ,,thorn in the side’’ of the Western coalition supporting Ukraine against Russia. His visit with the former White House leader came at a time when American aid to Ukraine is being discouraged, for example by the refusal of Mike Johnson, the speaker of the House of Representatives, to hold a vote.
