North Korea and Russia strengthen their partnership
The participation of the United States in the conflict in Ukraine could cause the start of a ,,new world war’’. This was stated by Park Chung Chon, the secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, his words were quoted by the Reuters news agency.
,,If the United States continues to push Ukraine into a proxy war against Russia, it could provoke a more decisive reaction from Moscow and a new global conflagration’’, the North Korean official said.
Park Chung Chon added that Russia has the right to ,,choose any type of retaliatory strike in case of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces with US weapons on targets near Russia's borders’’.
On June 19 this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement during Putin’s two-day visit to Pyongyang.
Two days before, Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov had already announced that Russia and North Korea had long planned to sign a document in which both sides undertake to cooperate on security issues. Ushakov also stressed that the agreement would not be directed against any country. According to him, the purpose of strengthening the partnership will be to ensure stability in the Northeast Asian region.
Putin’s actions added to Washington and Seoul’s concerns about what they see as an alliance in which Pyongyang provides Moscow with munitions needed for its war in Ukraine in exchange for economic assistance and technology transfers that would increase the threat posed by nuclear weapons of Kim Jong-un’s.
