Emmanuel Macron warns Russia
If Russian leader Vladimir Putin does not meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the near future, the Russian Federation risks facing new sanctions. This warning was issued by French President Emmanuel Macron, according to the LCI news channel.
,,If this bilateral meeting that President Putin promised President Trump does not take place as soon as possible, I think this means that Putin still influences him quite significantly’’, Macron said.
The French leader stressed that in such a scenario, Paris and Berlin would advocate the introduction of primary and secondary anti-Russian sanctions.
Earlier, Macron stressed that Putin is a ,,predator at the gates of Europe” who must ,,eat without stopping for his own survival”.
In addition, he asked Europe ,,not to be ,,naive’’ or ,,show signs of weakness’’ in the face of Russia, since the Kremlin leader is supposedly not honoring his promises and will try to revise his borders with other states at every opportunity.
On the other hand, the French president believes that the collective West has managed to change Donald Trump’s position on resolving the conflict in Ukraine since his return to the White House, and the change lies in the fact that the American leader has begun to realize the need for Ukraine to obtain security guarantees, which is possible only thanks to the unity of European states that unconditionally support Kyiv.
