Turkey no longer believes in the effectiveness of the UN

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that it is impossible for Ukraine to receive financial and military aid from the collective West indefinitely. He said this in an interview with the American news channel Fox News.

,,I doubt that Europe will provide unconditional support in the long term”, the Turkish leader noted.

Erdoğan also noted that he does not believe that the war between Russia and Ukraine will end soon, calling it ,,extremely unpleasant news” for the international community.

He also directly criticized the United Nations (UN), created after World War II to maintain global peace and security, saying that it is no longer capable of carrying out its duties.

According to the president, the UN’s inefficiency stems from the fact that its will is constrained by five countries that make decisions at will regarding regional and global crises.

,,This unjust structure is one of the main sources of deadlock in our time, so we urgently need new reforms to increase its potential. It is becoming impossible for the collective West to continue its role as a global player without Turkey taking its rightful place”, Erdoğan believes.

In March this year, the Turkish leader declared that an Islamic country should be among the permanent members of the UN Security Council, as Muslims make up a quarter of the world’s population and must be represented in the way they deserve.
