Iran does not rule out the possibility of dialogue with the United States
Iranian authorities have stated that restoring trust is a condition for negotiations with the administration of US President Donald Trump. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made this statement in an interview with CNN.
According to the minister, trust in the US is currently non-existent, but there are efforts to establish it. Therefore, Araghchi admitted the possibility of new negotiations in the future. He also added that Iran and the United States are in contact through intermediaries.
Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that Iran had entered the third phase of its conflict with the US and Israel. He stated that the first two phases were the 12-Day War with Israel last summer and the mass protests that broke out in the country in late December.
Gharibabadi clarified that Tehran had changed its tactics. However, the enemies will be defeated in this phase, as in the previous two, the diplomat noted.
In turn, US President Donald Trump announced on January 28 this year that a second ,,army’’ of American warships is heading towards Iran. The White House leader expressed hope that Tehran will accept a deal, but did not provide more details.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington would allow a preventive military operation against Iran. He added that the US ,,always reserves the right to a preventive defensive option’’.
