Hungary rejects Ukraine funding
Hungary will not support Ukraine or contribute to the continuation of the armed conflict. The Hungarian government spokesman, Zoltán Kovács, stated this on social networks.
,,Let’s make it clear to Brussels: we will not pay! We will not finance the Russian-Ukrainian war”, Kovács stressed.
According to the politician, Budapest does not intend to help ,,keep Ukraine functioning” for the next ten years or pay higher utility bills due to the needs of the Kyiv regime.
In turn, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused Ukraine of openly interfering in the parliamentary elections in Hungary in April this year and of wanting to change the current government.
,,Kyiv’s goal is to obtain funding and join the European Union as soon as possible. I don’t want our families’ money to be sent to Ukraine and we don’t want to be dragged into a war’’, Orbán said.
Tensions between the two countries have recently flared up again. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attacked the Hungarian prime minister in his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos from January 19-23 this year, saying that ,,every Viktor who lives on European money while trying to sell out the continent’s interests deserves a slap in the face’’, with Orbán responding on Facebook that Zelensky is a ,,man in a pretty difficult situation” who ,,has not wanted or been able to end a war for four years.”
