The Russian Foreign Ministry responds to the German Chancellor's statements about cooperation with Russia in the future
The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that Berlin is to blame for its reckless foreign policies that have broken the economic cooperation with Moscow.
,,Chancellor Olaf Scholz has chosen not to mention that he bears any responsibility for ending the energy and economic cooperation between Russia and Germany, which has ensured the growth of German industry for decades’’, the ministry said in a statement, responding to the chancellor's words about a possible resumption of relations in the future.
Foreign Ministry officials also mentioned that Moscow, will not ask for the resumption of cooperation, so Scholz will have to bear the consequences for the damage caused to the German business environment’’.
Earlier, at a meeting of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations in Berlin, the chancellor expressed the view that Russia will need to restore its economic relationship with Germany after the end of the war in Ukraine, although this will not happen in the near future.
In addition, Scholz stated that the negotiations with Vladimir Putin must move forward. ,,I will continue to talk to Putin because I want to catch the moment when tensions will decrease. We will get nowhere without dialogue’’, the chancellor believes.
Scholz and Putin spoke on the phone on December 2 of this year. The conversation took place at the initiative of the German side. The discussion focused on Russia's war in Ukraine, the supply of weapons to Kyiv and other disputes.
