The European Union and NATO may soon issue an official statement demanding Russia to ,,leave Ukraine’’
According to the newspaper Politico Europe, the statement could be published by the end of this year or the beginning of 2023. It is stated that the preparation of this document took more than a year, but the publication was delayed due to the strained relations between Turkey and Cyprus.
On December 13 this year, the spokesman of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov mentioned that Moscow does not consider the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine in the near future, also commenting on the proposal of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to Zelensky, the three ,,steps to peace’’ are supplying Kiev with modern Western tanks and artillery, ensuring Ukraine's energy and financial stability, as well as implementing the ,,peace formula’’ he previously proposed. For his part, Peskov said that these are ,,steps towards the continuation of hostilities’’, being of the opinion that Kiev must take into account the new current realities, including the territorial expansion of Russia as a result of the referendums.
Recently, US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz again came up with a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis, the main condition being the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, but Moscow categorically refused this proposal. ,,The United States does not recognize the new territories within the Russian Federation, thus complicating finding a common denominator for resolving the conflict’’, Peskov said.
According to the Kremlin spokesman, Ukraine must in turn show more willingness to analyze Russia's requests, which are ,,well-known’’.
