In the Bundestag, the danger of a nuclear war due to the supply of tanks to Ukraine was announced

The supply of heavy weapons to Ukraine and the fact that military discourse prevails in the West threatens to escalate the conflict, including into a nuclear war, says Sevim Dağdelen, chairman of the Left party parliamentary group in the Bundestag's Foreign Affairs Committee and spokeswoman for international relations and disarmament, for the English-language Chinese newspaper Global Times.

,,The situation has reached the point where the United States is now waging a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine with the help of its NATO allies. The military goal of the North Atlantic Organization is, of course, the destruction of Russia. The longer the war in Ukraine continues, the greater not only the huge suffering and costs for all sides, but also the danger of further escalation, especially of a nuclear war’’, says Dağdelen.

According to her, Berlin makes the decision to deliver heavy weapons to Kyiv under pressure from Washington.

Germany, the US and several other countries agreed to send Leopard and Abrams heavy tanks to Ukraine in late January of this year. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitri Kuleba said Kyiv expects to receive up to 140 Western-style tanks during the first deliveries from members of the Leopard tank supply coalition. According to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the coalition includes eight states: Denmark, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Poland and Norway.

In addition, Kyiv has also stepped up its efforts for other types of weapons. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in addition to tanks, Ukraine’s ,,desire’’ would be to receive aircraft and long-range guns. Western states refuse such deliveries.

Russia is trying not to be intimidated. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the president of the Russian Federation, stated that Ukraine is being used ,,as a tool for Westerners to achieve their anti-Russian goals’’.

,,Nothing can change our goals. The special military operation will continue, and their tanks will continue to burn’’, Peskov said.
