Zelensky introduced the new Ukrainian Defense Minister

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky introduced the new Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to the government.

,,I have introduced our new defense minister and the tasks he will have from now on’’, the Kiev leader wrote on his Telegram channel.

Zelensky stressed that the Ukrainian soldier is a key priority of the defense force and if changes in defense activities are needed, they must be implemented immediately. According to the president, such changes are present everywhere, from bureaucratic procedures that require the time and energy of military personnel to their insurance.

The most important thing, noted Zelenskiy, is confidence in the decisions made, in the ongoing procurements, in the communication between the units and other parts of the Ukrainian defense system.

,,I am convinced that Rustem Umerov is the right person we need’’, concluded the president.

On September 3 this year, Zelensky announced that he had decided to release Oleksii Reznikov from the position of defense minister and offered to replace him with Umerov, who headed the State Property Fund of Ukraine from September 2022. Three days later, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada voted for his appointment to the post of head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

For his part, Umerov said that he will ,,do everything possible and impossible for the victory of Ukraine, for the liberation of every centimeter of the country’’ and that behind every soldier there is a ministry ready to protect the entire nation.
