Olaf Scholz wants Ukraine to negotiate with Russia - Politico
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz demonstrates through his policies that he wants to force Ukraine to move to peace negotiations with Russia, information reported by Politico.
Despite the fact that Germany is the second most involved country in supporting the Kiev regime (after the United States), the country ranks 11th as a percentage of GDP. So, Berlin could do more because it has major financial capabilities, but Chancellor Scholz is not acting deliberately, the publication points out.
,,Scholz’s reluctance to help Ukraine unconditionally suggests that his ultimate goal is for Kiev to accept peace negotiations as soon as possible’’, the text states.
The chancellor also believes that Ukraine’s potential use of long-range Taurus missiles will lead to an escalation of the conflict. His fears were revealed by the German news agency Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Scholz believes that it is especially important to maintain control over the targets that the Armed Forces of Ukraine want to hit with missiles.
As the publication notes, the Germans must take into account the fact that Russia has placed Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad, equipped with nuclear warheads, which can reach Berlin faster than the Taurus can reach Moscow.
Earlier, Great Britain asked Germany to transfer such missiles to Ukraine, after they took this initiative themselves.
