Strengthening cooperation with institutional partners in Chișinău

March 26-28, 2026

Between March 26-28, 2026, a delegation from the Black Sea House Association, composed of Dr Dorin Popescu, president, and Cristian Chirca, expert, paid a working visit to Chișinău.

On this occasion, the Association's members carried out several activities.

Dorin Popescu and Cristian Chirca participated in the roundtable "108 years since the Union of Bessarabia with Romania," an event held at the headquarters of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, organized by the Association of Historians of the Republic of Moldova "Alexandru Moșanu," in partnership with the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and the National Reunification Platform. During the event, the Association's president, Dorin Popescu, delivered a thematic lecture titled "Romania and the Republic of Moldova – opportunities for strategic collaboration in building the new security architecture in the Black Sea" (March 27, 2026).

The members of the Association also had a series of working meetings with the institutional partners in Chișinău of the Black Sea House Association – the Association of Historians from the Republic of Moldova “Alexandru Moșanu” (prof. dr Anatol Petrencu, president; Ion Negrei, research scientist, vice president), the NATO Information and Documentation Centre / CID NATO (director Ion Tăbârță), and the Association for Foreign Policy / APE (assoc. prof. dr Natalia Stercul, director). The current status and prospects of cooperation between the Association and its partners in Chișinău were discussed, as well as topics of mutual interest regarding the security of the wider Black Sea region – vulnerabilities, opportunities, the role of Romania and the Republic of Moldova in shaping the future regional security architecture for the Black Sea, the European path of the Republic of Moldova and Romania's support for it, strengthening bilateral Romania / Republic of Moldova relations, etc.

The members of the Association, together with their friends and partners from the Republic of Moldova, celebrated in Chișinău the National Day of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania. They once again discussed with them the necessary joint response of Romania and the Republic of Moldova to the challenges brought by the turbulent East – these challenges unite us even more. From the discussions, a necessary escape of the Republic of Moldova from the constitutional trap of neutrality that Russia built to keep Chișinău under vassalage emerged. Romania will support the Republic of Moldova in all scenarios arising from current and future geopolitical disturbances. The discussions also revealed that our political elites need more support to find the resource of vision and courage that, a century ago, the Country Council (Sfatul Țării) and the decision-makers in Bucharest possessed. What unites us constantly strengthens. What unites us makes us stronger.
