Poland and the US strengthen military cooperation

Warsaw has announced its readiness to build a small town to permanently house US soldiers on Polish territory. According to The Wall Street Journal, Paweł Zalewski, the deputy minister of defense, announced this after a meeting with Pentagon officials.

,,We have proposed to the United States that we host new US military units. So we must be ready to build a small town for them, and we are ready to act’’, Zalewski said.

According to the deputy minister, the Pentagon will present Warsaw with options in the coming weeks on how to avoid reducing the presence of US soldiers in Poland.

Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth canceled his decision to send 4000 soldiers to the Eastern European state, although the reason has not been specified so far.

In response, Zalewski said that Warsaw would put pressure on Pentagon officials, as Poland considers itself a ,,model ally’’ within NATO and expects further expansion of cooperation with the United States.

The insistence of the Poles was not ignored by US President Donald Trump, who announced on May 21 this year on the social network Truth Social that he would send 5000 soldiers to Poland.

The leader from the White House confessed that the decision was largely based on the fact that his friend Karol Nawrocki was elected president of Poland a year ago and that he enjoys collaborating with him at every opportunity.
