"Romania and the Black Sea wider region. Meeting of Central Europe with Russia, the Balkans, the South Caucasus and the Middle East" Round Table

Friday, November 2, 2018, starting from 10h00m, at the Faculty of European Studies of the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (Room „Robert Schuman”, 3 Floor, 1 Em. de Martonne Stret), will take place the Round Table „Romania and the Black Sea region. Central Europe Meeting with Russia, the Balkans, the South Caucasus and the Middle East”. The event is organized jointly by the Black Sea House Association from Constanta and the Reflection and International Analysis Citadel Group from Cluj-Napoca.

The debate will be moderate by Mr. Valentin Naumescu, Associate Professor of International Politics at Babeş-Bolyai University, the Faculty of European Studies, coordinator of the Citadel Group (Cluj-Napoca), former secretary of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and Dorin Popescu, president of the Black Sea House (Constanţa), a former Romanian diplomat in the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The main objectives of the co-organizers of the event are to identify the main risks and threats to the security environment in the above geographical areas, to link the academic environment from Constanta and Cluj-Napoca to the thematic debates on geopolitics and international relations taking place in Romania and in the region, to stimulate the interest of local academic circles for geopolitical debates as well as to strengthen cooperation between local academics and experts from the two cities.
