Finland is strengthening its security policy
In the event of a conflict in the country, Finland will immediately call up 280 thousand people for military service. The number of recruits was announced by the country’s president, Alexander Stubb, in an interview with the Die Welt television channel.
,,If war breaks out, we will be able to summon this number of people without any problems’’, said the Finnish leader, emphasizing that the country’s Defense Forces are among the strongest in the North Atlantic Alliance.
When asked what the conditions should be for ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Stubb stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is the one who will have to ,,impose’’ the terms on which this should happen.
,,I think we need a world based on justice and fairness. Kiev must have the last word’’, added the politician. He mentioned that he talked in detail with Zelenski about his ,,formula’’ and took part in the peace conference that was organized in Switzerland on June 15-16 this year.
Regarding the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Kursk region, Stubb believes that the offensive is a reasonable step from a strategic point of view, but despite this, the situation on the front is not yet in favor of the Ukrainian army, even if Zelenskiy tried to bet on the invasion as a possibility to turn the tide of the conflict, ,,disorienting the Russians and forcing them to deviate from the offensive in Donbas’’.
