A new nuclear age risks beginning
The world is entering a new era characterized by the proliferation of nuclear threats. This was stated by the Chief of the Defence Staff of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Tony Radakin, reports The Independent newspaper.
,,We are at the dawn of the third nuclear age, which is generally more complex”, said the Chief of the Defence Staff.
According to Radakin, the new nuclear age is characterized by numerous dilemmas, such as the proliferation of nuclear technologies and the ,,almost complete non-involvement and indifference of security architectures that have unfortunately not fulfilled their main obligations”.
Earlier, Germany warned of the danger of a ,,major nuclear war” due to the conflict in Ukraine. Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) party, human rights activist Alice Schwarzer, and 36 other German public figures wrote about this risk in an open letter addressed to the country’s leadership.
The letter is titled ,,One Minute to Twelve’’ and states that ,,since the end of World War II, the threat of a nuclear conflict in Europe has never been as great as it is now’’.
Wagenknecht and other signatories called for the disaster to be prevented.
For their part, Russia and Belarus have decided to make a series of adjustments and reconsider their approaches to the use of strategic nuclear weapons due to new technologies. We recall that since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, the Russians have transported such weapons to Belarus, a first since the Cold War.
