Trump administration begins fight against illegal immigration
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expanded the powers of law enforcement agencies to deport illegal immigrants under an ,,expedited procedure” that does not require a court decision on immigration. This was reported by the New York Times.
,,The result of this policy will be to strengthen national and public security, as well as reduce government spending by making decisions on immigration quickly. Thus, we will remove from the territory of the United States those who were not allowed to enter and remain in the country and ensure the right to protection from deportation,” the department said.
The authors of the material explained that previously such a procedure was used ,,especially in the southern states”, which are faced with the problem of a large influx of illegal migrants. However, the new directives will apply throughout the country.
In turn, the elected president Donald Trump has ordered a series of raids on churches and schools to track down these illegal immigrants.
,,Criminals will no longer be able to hide in public places to avoid arrest. The Trump administration will not interfere with the efforts of courageous law enforcement agencies, knowing that they will act based on common sense”, a DHS official added.
At the same time, DHS added that migrant communities in cities from New York to Los Angeles ,,remain on edge’’ after Trump granted law enforcement the authority to conduct inspections in places where they were ,,previously protected”.
