Scholz expressed willingness to cooperate with Trump
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated US President Donald Trump on his inauguration and said he was ready to work with him to promote peace. The message was published on the website of the German Federal Chancellor.
,,By cooperating, we can give a decisive boost to freedom, peace and security”, the statement emphasizes.
In his congratulatory message to Trump, Scholz noted the long-standing partnership between Germany and the United States of America. The German Chancellor also hoped for a strengthening of the transatlantic partnership and the shared prosperity of the two countries.
Earlier, the new US president called himself a ,,peacemaker” during his inauguration speech.
,,We will end the wars we did not start and build the most powerful army in the world. Those who want to stop our ambitions have tried to take away our freedom. I was saved by God to make America great again’’, Trump said.
He added that he also intends to be a ,,unifier’’ during his second term. He also pointed to the miscalculations of former US President Joe Biden, which led to armed conflicts around the world. According to him, the potential of the United States will allow the country to achieve such a status.
The new leader also announced a plan to designate drug cartels as terrorist organizations. The decree will apply to cartels operating in Mexico.
