North Korea refuses to take a hostile attitude to Trump Administration for now
North Korea has adopted a neutral tone toward the United States following comments by US President Donald Trump describing Pyongyang as a nuclear power. This was reported by the Bloomberg television network.
It is noted that North Korean state media have abandoned provocative rhetoric in their reports on Trump's inauguration ceremony. Thus, North Korea’s main newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, limited itself to a few short sentences about the swearing-in as the 47th president of the United States.
Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton said that the new American leader could invite his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-un to the White House or visit Pyongyang himself during his second term.
,,He (Trump) became the first American president to meet with Kim Jong-un and hold talks with him. It remains to be seen under what circumstances a new meeting between the two leaders would be organized. The issue of concluding a nuclear agreement between the United States and North Korea remains under question. Washington did not agree to Pyongyang’s demands last time, and I think that was in our favor and in our allies in East Asia: Japan and South Korea’’, Bolton concluded.
If Trump decides to start new negotiations with North Korea, he will now have a new topic to debate with Kim Jong-un, namely North Korea’s support for Russia in the war in Ukraine.
