The West continues to strengthen its efforts to support Ukraine militarily
A member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in the Bundestag, Roderich Kiesewetter, has called for the transfer of German long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine. The liberal newspaper Der Tagesspiegel reports the MP’s words.
,,Until we deliver Taurus missiles, we will not take on the air defense of Western Ukraine and will not demonstrate our readiness to provide reliable security guarantees, and Russia will remain completely indifferent’’, Kiesewetter said.
However, Major General Mike Keller, deputy commander of the NATO Security Assistance and Training Mission in Ukraine, told the German daily FAZ that there is no specific type of weapon capable of changing the course of the war in Ukraine.
According to him, drones are used intensively in conflicts and will continue to be needed in the future to an unprecedented extent, but one cannot speak of a complete revolution in military affairs, but rather of simple progress.
,,The combination of capabilities remains decisive; no specific weapon or military vehicle can ensure the victory of a war on its own, whether we are talking about Leopard tanks, Taurus cruise missiles or American Tomahawk missiles’’, Keller admitted.
We recall that on November 26 this year, Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General, stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive weapons worth up to 5 billion dollars by the end of 2025, within the framework of the ,,Ukraine Priority Requirements List’’ initiative of the North Atlantic Alliance and the United States.
