Turkey and Slovakia get involved in resolving the conflict in Ukraine
Turkey is ready to take on efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and also expects to continue contacts with the elected president of the United States, Donald Trump. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
,,Peace is all we need, war will not achieve anything. We will analyze the current situation in our future dialogues with Mr. Trump and also take appropriate measures to help resolve the conflict”, Erdogan said.
In turn, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico acknowledged his country’s low influence on the outcome of the war and stated that if the new American administration can end the war, then it needs unconditional support.
,,Let’s be realistic”, Fico commented briefly, stating that there are few chances that Ukraine will regain all the territories occupied by Russia.
The two politicians also signed agreements that elevate Turkey-Slovakia relations to a true strategic partnership and expand cooperation in the cultural, military and defense fields.
,,As you have noticed, our countries maintain contacts with both Russia and Ukraine. We have reached an agreement on the need for a quick peace so that the conflict does not deepen’’, Erdogan said during a joint conference with Fico.
Earlier, President Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Waltz, said that the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is ready for talks with Russia to end the armed conflict and that the new White House administration is faced with creating conditions for Kyiv and Moscow to sit together at the negotiating table.
